Bicep curls is the best exercise to grow biceps but only if it’s done in the correct form. If you’re not doing it right you’re just wasting your time and risking injury. Unfortunately I see guys doing it all wrong every single time at the gym.
Why Are You Doing It Wrong?
Everyone wants gains and want it fast, so naturally they try to go for the biggest weights they can handle. Theoretically that’s what you should do but only if you do it in the right form. Unfortunately more often than not guys take too heavy weights and throw all their body into doing a curl, be it dumbbells or barbells. That doesn’t work your biceps well and can even lead to injuries.
How to Do It Right
There are 3 basic rules to bicep curls:
- Use only weights you can handle in the correct form
- Keep your elbows fixed at all times
- Raise the weights twice as fast as you lower them down
If you can’t do it correctly, it only means you’re using too heavy weights – lower them down. Keep your biceps tense as you do the curls and try to keep the perfect form. You’ll notice that your muscles work a lot more with lower weights than they would when you throw big weights around with your whole body.
